An interesting fact is that the leaves of the Calathea close at night and open again in the morning! Sometimes you hear the rustling sound of this houseplant in the evening. The Calathea originally comes from the South American jungle, where it thrives in moist and shady environments. Due to the size and strength of the leaves, they are occasionally used as packaging material. In South America, fish products are sometimes wrapped in the leaves of the Calathea.
